BMW 6 Series Coupe Preview

If you’re out and about this summer, you might catch a glimpse of the new BMW 6 Series Coupé, due to launch on 15 October this year.

Like the stunning new BMW 6 Series Convertible, the new 6 Series Coupé has an elegant, fluid design (inspired by the flow of water), beautiful proportions and dynamic sports car capabilities. The long bonnet and sweeping contour lines combine perfectly with the low muscular stance and symmetrical proportions. Both models appear much lower and wider than their predecessors. This is mainly due to powerful-looking wheel arches and broad, pronounced air intake. The kidney grille, characteristic ‘shark-nose’ bonnet and new LED fog lights give it a contemporary look.

Lavishly-appointed interior
Inside the new Coupé and Convertible, you’ll find a sumptuous interior with exquisite attention to detail. The stylish cabin is equipped to an exceptionally high standard specification and includes Dakota leather upholstery, innovative black panel technology and driver-centric dashboard design. An eight speed Sport automatic transmission with Steptronic, Bluetooth telephone preparation, Xenon headlights and BMW Professional Multimedia Navigation also come as standard.

Responsive and agile
Near perfect 50:50 weight distribution, BMW’s signature rear-wheel drive and a host of dynamic driving settings ensure the new 6 Series delivers responsive, agile performance. Drive Dynamic Control comes as standard and allows you to fine-tune features such as accelerator sensitivity, steering assistance and gearbox response. In conjunction with the Adaptive Drive option, the suspension can also be adjusted to suit your driving style. The Comfort setting, with smooth gear changes, precise steering and more pliant suspension is perfect for those longer journeys. Sport mode offers a more sensitive throttle, steering assistance is reduced, gears are held longer and the suspension firms up. Sport+ mirrors Sport mode and additionally activates Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) to allow an amount of slip to the rear wheels for an even more sporty drive.

0-62 in 5 under seconds
The new BMW 6 Series delivers a combination of performance and efficiency that is unmatched by any of their competitors. The line-up will feature 640i SE and 650i SE models. The 320hp six-cylinder 640i SE Coupé achieves 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds yet 36.7mpg combined cycle and 179g/km CO2 emissions, bringing it into Band I with road tax at £315 for the first year and £210 thereafter. The 407hp twin-turbo V8 engine of the 650i SE Coupé delivers 600Nm of torque and 0-62 in an impressive 4.9 seconds – taking it to almost M car performance.
